Instead of being round it is cone shaped. The name was shortened to pg hydrangea using the first letters of paniculata and grandiflora. Grandiflora is a fast growing shrub that can reach 25 feet tall. The only variety of hydrangeas that can be made into tree form are paniculata hydrangeas.

The peegee s white blooms will turn pink and before the blooms fade in september they will turn a lovely bronze. The leaves of pg hydrangeas are relatively easy to identify when compared with other hydrangeas. Unlike mopheads they need several hours of sun to do well. They are medium green with a matt finish.

Peegee hydrangeas are in the paniculata family so to speak. Peegee hydrangea hydrangea paniculata is a deciduous shrub that will display masses of big showy blooms in midsummer after most shrubs have finished blooming for the season.
