ensemble Camellia japonica red velvet!!!
Royal velvet camellia produces an abundance of dark velvet red semi double flowers in late winter through mid spring. Vigorous compact upright growth. Certainly one of our favorites among the dark red japonica camellias. I took a pic of the bloom b c the red was absolutely gorgeous and reminiscent of velvet.Excellent as a hedge or specimen. Rose red with occasional white markings at base of petals. However the bloom was spoiled a bit by rain on the previous day. Grows 6 to 10 feet tall and 6 to 8 feet wide.
